These popular races, celebrating the life and legacy of the ‘Voice of the Boro’ Ali Brownlee, will see hundreds of runners take to the streets of Middlesbrough.

Organisers Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, in partnership with Everyone Active and Middlesbrough Council, plus title sponsor Thirteen, are advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the town’s roads will be closed or have access restricted to ensure the safety of all those taking part.
Honouring the memory of popular broadcaster Ali Brownlee, who for over 30 years commentated on his beloved Middlesbrough FC, the Ali Brownlee 5k returns with an updated route, starting and finishing at Centre Square and taking in the Riverside Stadium along the way.
The 5k will start at 10.15am, followed by the 2k at 11.15am which shares the same start and finish location at Centre Square but features a shorter route.
The event will require the closure of roads and junctions between 9.15am and noon on Sunday, June 1.
Road closures include Albert Road, Bridge Street, Cleveland Street, Commercial Street, Corporation Road, Dock Street, Durham Street, Exchange Place, Lower Feversham Street, Priestman Road, Queen’s Square, Shepherdson Way, The Leeway, The Halyard, Vulcan Street and Windward Way.
The final closure will be re-opened for no with the closures around Shepherdson Way and The Leeway re-opened on a rolling basis when safe to do so.
Run For All Operations Director Tristan Batley-Kyle said: “As with many major running events, some road closures are put in place to ensure the safety of the participants and spectators.
“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. All closures will be lifted as soon as possible.
