Family Fun Vibrancy Event in Spennymoor

Written by Aaron Kearney on 21 May 2025

Residents across County Durham are invited to take part in a family fun vibrancy event taking place in Spennymoor this weekend.

Durham County Council, in partnership with AH Events and All together for Spennymoor, will be hosting the event on Saturday 24 May.

The activity-packed day will be held in Spennymoor Market Place from 11am to 4pm and promises to be a day of free family fun, hosted by Let’s Circus.[modula id="5817"]

Families attending can expect vibrant performances from Steve Cousins, ringmaster, from Australia; Mr Vita, ‘The Spanish Gentleman Juggler’; daring aerial acrobatics from Evie and Ruby; unicycling antics of The Flying Wheelnuts and Nat Lunatrick’s Fire and Unicycle.

Featuring an international programme, the, incredibly popular, Circus is returning after a fantastic reception in previous years.

As well as jaw-dropping performances, the day will bring a circus school team that will lay on interactive workshops, for those who want to dip their toes in becoming a circus performer.

Younger members of the family can take part in even more fun-filled activities, including a climbing wall, crazy golf, and face painting.

Residents are encouraged to pop along for a guaranteed afternoon of fun, free for the whole family.

Graham Wood, Durham County Council’s economic development manager, said: This Family Fun Vibrancy Event offers residents a great range of performers and fun activities to spice up their weekend, all for free.

“We’re hoping people can make it along to highlight the incredible events that are happening within the town.”

The event has been funded with £9,565 Spennymoor’s ‘All together for Spennymoor’ neighbourhood board.

Funding was also contributed from the former Area Action Partnership (AAP) – now Local Network - neighbourhood budgets of councillors Liz Maddison, Billy McAloon, and Pete Malloy, who contributed £1,000, £500 and £417 respectively.

Former councillors Mark Abley and Luke Allan Homes also contributed £500 and £680 from their respective neighbourhood budgets when they were in post.
