One of Middlesbrough’s family favourite visitor attractions is back with a bang at the weekend.





The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum (CCBM) re-opens on Saturday (April 12) with an amazing line-up of Easter entertainment including a brand new ‘Living History’ event.
Easter events at the CCBM from this weekend:
Egg Scramble Museum Trail
Saturday, April 12 – Sunday, April 27, 10am – 4pm
Crack the Case: follow the exploding egg trail and solve the mystery as you gather clues around the museum, discovering our collection and learning as you go.
Redcoats & Pirates Easter Weekend
Saturday, April 12 – Sunday, April 13, 10am – 4pm
Prepare for a swashbuckling adventure and a taste of military might at our living history camp. Witness the clash of Redcoats and Pirates in the 18th century with a host of activities all day long including a pirate trail, military drills and a stocks and sponges activity.
These egg-cellent activities are free with museum admission.
A host of Easter events also get under way at the ever-popular Dorman Museum from Saturday, April 12 to Sunday, April 27 including:
VR Pirate Jungle Ride
Saturday, April 12 – Sunday, April 27, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Embark on a thrilling adventure to get the stolen treasure chest key back from Captain Flashbeard before it’s too late. Keep your wits about you on this exciting VR family adventure.
Magic Rabbit Family Trail
Saturday, April 12 – Sunday, June 1, 10am – 4pm
Help find the magic rabbits that have escaped from the Spellbound Exhibition. Follow the clues as they take you on a fascinating journey of discovery around the Museum.
Spellbound Family Magic Shows
Wednesday, April 16 & Thursday, April 17 and Wednesday, April 23 & Thursday, April 24, 10.30am & 12.30pm
Prepare for a magical experience designed especially for young audiences. Our enchanting children’s magic shows are packed with surprises, laughter, and plenty of audience participation.
Trailblazer Carriage
Thursday, April 17, 10.30am – 1pm
Treat yourself to an immersive experience inside Periplum’s Trailblazer Carriage. Take your seat inside and listen to a soundscape celebrating Tees Valley trailblazers as innovators, activists, workers and adventurers.
Big Science ‘Floating and Sinking’ Workshop
Saturday, April 26, 10.30am & 12pm
Floating and Sinking is a real hands-on session packed with experiments. The children will test if things float or sink, they will make things that sink float and make things that float sink in this amazing workshop.
The VR Jungle Ride and Big Science workshop are ticketed events. All Family Magic Shows are free with a purchased Spellbound ticket and the Trailblazer Carriage is free to attend.
