Officers investigating a report of assault in Northumberland have released an image of a man they’d like to speak to.

Shortly after 11pm on Saturday, November 23, police received a report of assault at a premises on John Street in Ashington.

It was reported that a man has repeatedly punched and kicked the victim – a man in his 40s – and forced him to the ground. 

The offender was escorted from the scene.

The victim was later taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries where he required surgery for a broken leg.

Various lines of enquiry have been carried out since the report was first made.

As part of the ongoing investigation, today (Wednesday) officers have released images of a man they’d like to trace.

He’s believed to have been in the area at the time the offence took place and may have valuable information that could support our investigation.
