The search for a former firefighter from Beverley who went missing is continuing as police appeal for witnesses.

Authorities are continuing their search for Richard Mason, a 55-year-old former firefighter from Beverley, who has been missing since 30 December. Humberside Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses as the investigation progresses.

Mr. Mason was last captured on CCTV at 09:37 GMT, walking north along the banks of the River Hull towards High Eske Nature Reserve. He had earlier been seen crossing Molescroft Pavilion at 09:08 GMT before heading along Hull Bridge Road towards the Crown and Anchor pub in Tickton.

Described as approximately 6ft (1.8m) tall with a slim build, dark brown hair, and a bushy beard, he is believed to have been wearing a tan coat, dark denim trousers, and a dark hat at the time of his disappearance.

(C) HANDOUT

Humberside Police are asking anyone who was near the River Hull, opposite the Crown and Anchor pub, between 09:30 and 13:30 GMT on 30 December to come forward. They are also appealing to boat owners with moored vessels in the area who may have CCTV footage, and they urge the public to check any outbuildings or sheltered areas where Mr. Mason may have sought refuge.

There is a possibility that he may have traveled to the Middlesbrough area, and his family and friends remain deeply concerned for his safety.

Chief Inspector Owen Stafford expressed gratitude for the public’s continued support, stating:
“With the help of specialist trained search officers, scent dogs, and the underwater search unit, we are expanding our efforts to track Richard’s movements. We appreciate everyone who has come forward with information and thank the community for their assistance.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Missing People by calling or texting 116 000 (free and confidential) or call 101, quoting Humberside Police Log 95, 30/12/24.
