Officers have released an image of a man they are hoping to trace as they investigate a report of fraud in North Tyneside.

Police received a report that a man had entered B&Q on Middle Engine Lane in Wallsend at 1pm on Friday, November 22.

The man has then picked up several items and gone to the store checkout.

He has then been given a refund for the items using an old receipt as proof he had previously bought them.

The man then left the shop.

Officers are investigating the report and today (Wednesday) they have issued an image of a man they are hoping to trace.

He was in the area at the time and it is believed he may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to send Northumbria Police a direct message on social media, use the live chat function on the Force website or go to https://www.northumbria.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

For those unable to contact the Force via those ways, call 101.
