Officers investigating a robbery in Newcastle have identified a man they would like to trace.

At around 1am on Sunday, November 3, it was reported that an offender has approached a man on Grainger Street in Newcastle city centre.

The offender punched the man, knocking him to the floor, and proceeded to kick him to the head, before stealing a gold chain from around his neck and fleeing the area on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

Enquiries are ongoing and today (Wednesday) officers have released images of a man they’d like to speak to.

It is believed he was in the area at the time and could have information which will assist officers investigating the report.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police by sending a direct message on social media, or by using the live chat function, or report form on the Northumbria Police website.

For those unable to contact the Force via those ways, call 101. Please quote crime reference number: NP-20241103-0071
